King Speaks at

35th Annual “March for Life”

Washington, D.C.—Congressman Steve King spoke Tuesday at the 35th annual March for Life rally on the National Mall in Washington D.C.  Organizers estimated the crowd to be, at least, 225,000 people.  King and dozens of other speakers urged pro-life marchers to continue the grassroots fight against abortion in the United States and throughout the world.

The March for Life has been held annually for the last 35 years, on January 22, marking the day the U.S. Supreme Court announced its decision on the case Roe v. Wade.  Since the court’s unconstitutional decision, abortions have been available on-demand in the United States.

“Remember that in between you stands the ghost of a missing generation.  About a third of your generation is gone,” said King specifically addressing those marchers under the age of thirty-five.

The next President of the United States will likely make two more appointments to the Supreme Court.  If he gets it right, we will be back here on this Mall to celebrate the end of Roe v. Wade.  And that will be a joyous annual celebration,” added King.

After speeches concluded, the crowd marched up Constitution Avenue to the Supreme Court Building on Capitol Hill.  Leading the March was a large group of women who had an abortion and regretted taking the lives of their unborn children.  Dr. Alveda King, the niece of Martin Luther King also led the March and invited fellow marchers to join her in singing "We will overcome".
