January 29 was a day to remember.  On January 29 we prayed and we planned.

Christian Coalition of Iowa’s first planning session of 2005, Praise and Preparation, was held on January 29, 2005.  In attendance were approximately 75 individuals dedicated to making a difference.

We began our day with an hour of prayer.  Individuals prayed for God’s forgiveness and His blessings.  Prayers were rendered for our state and federal political leaders.  Others prayed for those who commit hours battling for what is right and good.  The hour passed by as if it were minutes.  We laughed and cried and worshipped our great and gracious Father and gave thanks for the redemptive power of Jesus Christ.

A panel of several key activists in the state spent the next hour and a half discussing what things went right and what things went wrong in our 2005 election efforts.  Pastor Brad Sherman of Iowa City, Nancy Streck of Ida Grove, Denny Gramentz of Ankeny, Bernie Hayes of Cedar Rapids, Steve Scheffler of West Des Moines, Bob Jahner of Knoxville, Morris Hurd of Marengo, and Joe Earle of West Des Moines all gave of their time and talents in discussing plans for CCI’s future political and legislative activities.

After the panel gave their thoughts, the discussion was open for thoughts from the audience.  Discussion was spontaneous and thoughtful.  Many wonderful ideas evolved from this brainstorming session.

The day was not only exciting but all left further motivated to make a difference.  We are looking forward to additional “brainstorming” meetings.  We pray that those who attended will join us again and that those unable to attend will be able to join us as well.
