Many questions have been asked about whether Iowa Christian Alliance supports candidates in contested elections.  This correspondence is written in an effort to answer those questions.

Iowa Christian Alliance is a Non-Profit Organization and is therefore prohibited from endorsing ANY candidate in ANY election.  Our mission is to educate the public on issues important to our constituency.

That being said, Iowa Christian Alliance cannot and will not be endorsing or supporting a candidate in the upcoming 2008 presidential election.

Additionally the Board of the Alliance has voted that its officers are not to endorse candidates.  The remaining members of the board are permitted to endorse candidates; however none of their endorsements should be considered an endorsement of the organization as a whole.  Any endorsement made by an Iowa Christian Alliance Board Member should be viewed as merely a personal endorsement and regardless of how the endorsement may be depicted by the campaign or the media; the endorsement is nothing more than a personal endorsement.

Iowa Christian Alliance has developed a State PAC and this PAC does have the ability to endorse state and local candidates such as those running for the state house and senate along with local county courthouse candidates.

The candidates that Iowa Christian Alliance CANNOT endorse are federal congressional or presidential candidates. The development of a federal PAC would be necessary to participate in the endorsement of these candidates.

We hope that this has made clear our position on candidate endorsements.  Please feel free to contact us if you have any future questions.  Send any questions to: webmaster@iowachristian.com
