At Cedar Falls House Party

FIRST PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE HOUSE PARTY A SUCCESS
Iowa Christian Alliance sponsored its' first house party featuring a presidential candidate--former Gov. Mike Huckabee. Greg and Lea Ann Saul were our gracious hosts for this fun filled evening at their home in Cedar Falls on Friday evening, April 27th. Good food, good fellowship and a time to hear Gov. Huckabee talk about his agenda for America--were enjoyed by the 75 plus people in attendance.
We want to thank Gov. Huckabee for spending a good share of his introductory remarks promoting the work of Iowa Christian Alliance. The Governor talked about the critical role that ICA plays here and the nation. His remarks alluded to the fact that ICA is one of the top and most important pro-family organizations in the entire country! Iowa is the first state to hold either a caucus or primary. It is here in Iowa that Christians will play a major role in saying who will be and who will not be the eventual nominees for President of the two major parties.
Gov. Huckabee encouraged those in attendance to be generous in their volunteer and financial support of Iowa Christian Alliance--enabling the organization to make a difference on behalf of people of faith and helping to ensure that Christian values have a crucial and vital role at the political table.
ICA will not endorse a presidential candidate--not now and not in the future. This organization will be working hard to educate conservative Christians on where all of these candidates stand prior to the Iowa Caucuses. Watch for further information for the planned mass distribution of our first-ever Presidential Voter Guide!
It is time that this constituency stop acting like they are another special interest of the Republican Party. For too long, we have allowed the Republican Party to treat our movement as second class citizens--in many cases, telling us what we want to hear and then after assuming power--ignoring our agenda. Here is a specific example: President Bush spent a lot of political capital working to get two big government expansion programs through Congress: No Child Left Behind and Prescription Drugs. However, when it came time for helping to push the Federal Marriage Amendment through Congress--all we got was lip service from this President and most Republican legislators.
We encourage you to not give any of these presidential candidates a free pass by pitching them the "soft" questions. Let's face it--they understand that our constituency will represent around 75% of caucus attendees. Consequently, in many cases they are going to tell you what they want you to hear.
Further, I encourage you to do this: Do not make a commitment to endorse or support any of them until they have answered the "tough" questions adequately. Specifically--study and pose the "tough" questions that you will find at http://www.iowachristian.com/questions.htm
We have extended an invitation to all the candidates to be featured at a house party--where you can ask those "tough" questions. Please look for details for a house party nearest you. We will publicize where and when those will be held through our newsletters, emails and web site.
Information regarding Iowa Christian Alliance upcoming events is available at http://www.iowachristian.com/events.htm
We look forward to seeing you at one of our house parties featuring a presidential candidate!
