DES MOINES, IA----Christian Conservatives will meet tomorrow, Saturday, January 29, 2005, to discuss plans to continue motivating conservatives, specifically Christian conservatives, to participate in legislative and political activity.

Steve Scheffler, Director of Christian Coalition of Iowa, states, “We need to make sure that we do not make the same mistakes in 2006 that were made in 1996.  The 1994 Contract with America motivated conservatives and Christians to arrive at their voting places in droves.  However, efforts were minimal to ensure continued political and legislative activities from this electoral force.  We do not wish to see the efforts of this past political cycle to go the way of 1996.”

“Our effort on Saturday will be the beginning of our activities for 2006 and 2008.  We are excited about the gathering of activists from across the state.  We believe that their input will be vital for our future plans,” continued Scheffler.
