Tancredo
Denounces S.F. Mayor for
Obstruction of Justice
Calls on all candidates to denounce sanctuary city
(Washington D.C.) – Presidential candidate
Congressman Tom Tancredo (R-CO) reacted sharply to Mayor Gavin Newsom
designating San Francisco a “sanctuary city.”
“Mayor Newsom’s defiant pronouncement is reminiscent
of Southern segregationists frustrating the enforcement of federal civil rights
law.” Tancredo said. “As president, I would direct my Attorney General to take
all necessary action to end this obstruction of justice.”
In response to recent ICE (Immigration and Customs
Enforcement) raids in San Francisco, Mayor Gavin Newsom proclaimed, "I will not
allow any of my department heads or anyone associated with this city to
cooperate in any way shape or form with these raids. We are a sanctuary city,
make no mistake about it."
Tancredo concluded, “I call on all presidential contenders, who claim to be serious about immigration enforcement, to publicly denounce this brazen disregard of the law.”
